After rising to fame as a child actor, Jason fell into the hard-partying ways of Hollywood, bingeing on booze, pot and cocaine. “He was on the road to self-destruction,” a close source said.

Even after saying “I do” to Amanda Anka, daughter of famed singer Paul Anka, in 2001, Jason couldn’t clean up his act. Until his wife gave him an ultimatum: “Amanda threatened to leave if he didn’t get help,” says the source.

“It was a wake-up call for Jason. He realized that to keep his wife, he’d have to give up the drugs and booze.” So that’s just what he did — Jason joined AA and has been sober ever since.

“If it hadn’t been for Amanda, Jason may still be using,” the source says. Now, with daughter Francesca, 4, the couple is happier than ever. “They look like newlyweds,” reveals another source.

“Jason is one very proud and very happy family man.”

Now she takes center stage in Friends with Benefits, the story of Jamie (Mila Kunis) a New York headhunter who convinces Dylan (Justin Timberlake) a potential recruit to accept a job in the Big Apple where they decide to embark upon a strictly physical relationship with absolutely no emotions allowed.

They become two best buds who are convinced they can make a purely physical relationship work. (We’ll let you guess what happens next.) Here, America’s new sweetheart, 27, speaks about her complicated character in her newest hit, ‘Friends with Benefits’.

Q: Is this movie a way for you to break into the rom-com world without doing the usual thing?
Maybe. We always thought of it as more of a comedy than a romantic comedy. If anything, it’s a buddy comedy with a little romance in it, because ultimately you care about the characters

Q: Why was it important that character be such a big part of the movie?
Because otherwise you just have hijinks, and you can only take hijinks so far because it gets boring after a while. I think to get a person involved, you have to make them care for you.

Q: Your character is pretty emotionally damaged, thanks to her weird mother.
It’s important to understand where Jamie comes from. You understand people when you meet their family and their friends. You get more of a sense of who they are. The original draft [of the script] was not as interesting as Patricia Clarkson made it. She came in and created a character out of nothing.

Q: Why was it important that character be such a big part of the movie?
Otherwise you just have hijinks, and you can only take hijinks so far because it gets boring after a while. I think to get a person involved, you have to make them care for you.

Q: Were you encouraged to go off the script much?
There are a couple of parts in the film that were at-the-moment type of things. One scene, where Justin was like, “Get your feet off the bed!” That was improvised because I think I had dirty feet from walking around onstage.

Q: Did you and Justin work on building a relationship with each other before you started filming?
You mean did I fall on top of him as a trust game? No. I know what would happen. (She laughs.) I’d fall!

He becomes the leader of a team that wages war on the evil HYDRA organization commanded by the Red Skull.

The iconic superhero now has his own movie, Captain America: The First Avenger. Here’s the behind-the-scenes scoop on what has now become a summer super hit.

1. Marvel created Captain America in 1941 to boost patriotism during WWII. He’s since sold more than 210 million comics.

2 He was the first Marvel character to get his own movie (1944), beating Spider-Man by nearly 60 years.

3. Unlike cohorts Thor and Iron Man, Captain America becomes a hero overnight. His shield is indestructible and can be thrown like a weapon.

4. Chris Evans beat out an army of actors for the role. including Chace Crawford, Channing Tatum, Ryan Phillippe and John Krasinski.

5. Still, he turned down the role three times. “I was just scared,” admits Chris, who eventually inked a six-movie deal. “I can’t believe I was almost too chicken to play Captain America!”

6. Chris has already portrayed a superhero — he was the Human Torch in two Fantastic Four films.

7. To get buff, Chris had to eat his face off. “I wasn’t trying to… tone — I was looking to gain,” he says. “The rule was, if you’re not eating, go get something.”

8. He also hit the gym — hard: “It was an ever-evolving workout; we always found ways to work around the sore parts!”
9. For his scenes as a scrawny Steve, Chris was shot against a green screen and then shrunk digitally.

10. Next up for Captain America: 2012’s The Avengers, opposite Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Ruffalo and Scarlett Johansson.

Less than a week later, the jet-setting pair announced their two-year romance was finito, (finished). Few in their circle were shocked.

The Oscar-winning actor, (50) and the Italian TV personality, (32) had plenty of passion at first, but “They didn’t seem to have a lot in common,” says a Clooney source.

Adds another; “It just ran its course. He’s very politically astute and has an incredible intelligence. But he doesn’t date women who are his equal or a challenge.”

“Being a long-term couple isn’t realy his thing.” says a source. “George likes being independent.”

Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult from ‘X-Men: First Class’ were also brought together after the filming of the film.

The question is…Will they last past their next film?

The couple pulled off a secret wedding, tying the knot June 22 in New York, her rep confirms to us. The lucky quests? The two reportedly married in front of just four people: Craig’s teenage daughter, Ella (from his marriage to actress Fiona Loudon – they split in 2004). Wiesz’s son Henry 5 (with ‘Black Swan’ director Darren Aronofsky), and two family friends.

Weisz, (41) who ended her five-year engagement to Aronofsky in November, spent Christmas with Craig in the English countryside, (they both hail from England). The actors first met while performing together in a London workshop play in 1994.

“Nobody knew.” a source close to Weisz says of the surprise. “But what awesome news. She’s very happy.”

One of Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) newest employees, Natasha could prove to be a valuable asset — and potential love interest — as Tony faces off against the malevolent Whiplash (Mickey Rourke).

With girlfriend Natalie Mark accompanying him as his “rock,” When asked if the cute couple has plans for an engagement. The Aussie hottie laughed it off, responding, “I don’t know if the viewers want to know that.”

He did elaborate with humor on why he took on the role of Perseus, explaining he signed on “to be in a rubber dress with a rubber sword, killing a bunch of rubber monsters…This is a movie for 10-15 year olds to have a blast at the cinema.”

The original Perseus in ‘Clash of the Titans” first voyage into the theater was played by Harry Hamlin in 1981. Without a full-blown premiere like this time around, Hamlin relished the moment and declared, “This is my premiere tonight.”

Despite getting back to her old routine, the actress is hardly the workaholic diva of yesteryear. “They come to the door and start yelling, ‘No, mommy, mommy don’t go.’ It’s hard!” she adds of leaving her tots at home to promote the flick.

“It’s terrifying!” says the 28-year-old Oxford graduate. “I’m worried that I might say the wrong thing, and it’ll all come gushing out, so I’ve erased it from my mind so I can avoid telling people the entire plot!”
