Writing at least 10 hours every day with an occasional vacation every 20 years is not the only reason J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5, Changeling) is one of the fastest scribes in town.
Rewriting “Ninja Assassin” in 53 hours…is.
How did this come to be?
“The Wachowskis called me on a Monday about a script they needed rewritten end to end. Not to say the script wasn’t good, it just wasn’t what they wanted. I met with them on Tuesday, got the material and asked when they needed the new script. “It has to go out to actors on Friday.”
So I went home, fired up a pot of coffee and wrote almost nonstop, turning out the draft in 53 hours, getting two hours of sleep per day between the meeting and the delivery.”
Why would some one do this?
“I took “Ninja Assassin” because it was a challenge. And I love a good challenge.
When the draft came back and Warner Bros. didn’t have a single note on changes and it went straight into production, I felt as though I’d on the lottery!
When someone hires you to write a script, they are paying you a compliment of unimaginable proportion. They are paying you to make black marks on a piece of paper. They are saying, “Here’s a bucket of money…now tell us a story.” If you can find something more amazing than that, let me know.

Great job right here. I truly enjoyed what you had to say. Keep heading because you definitely bring a new voice to this subject. Not many people would say what youve said and still make it interesting. Properly, at least Im interested. Cant wait to see more of this from you.
