For the nine months following her assault at the hands of then boyfriend Chris Brown, Rihanna chose to keep quiet. But not anymore.
With her fourth album, (rated R) set to drop on November 23, the 21-year-old singer sat down with ABC’s Diane Sawyer for a multi-part interview that aired on “Good Morning America” and “20/20” on November 5 and 6.
“This happened to me,” she said of the attack. “It could happen to anybody.” She spoke further about the incident in “Glamour.” addressing for the first time the February leak of a graphic photo showing her injuries: “It was humiliating, that is not a photo you would show to anybody. I felt completely taken advantage of.”
Also shocking to Rihanna was the media maelstrom that followed the Grammy-weekend attack. Detailing the attention. She remembers wondering why there were helicopters circling her house? “There were over 100 people in my cul-de-sac?”), she said. “I felt like I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up as Britney Spears.”
