The campy ’80s TV series is about to become a hardcore action movie. The movie stars Liam Neeson as Col. “Hannibal” Smith, Bradley Cooper as “Faceman” Peck, UFC fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson as B.A. Baracus, and Distict 9’s Sharlto Copley as “Howling Mad” Murdock. Directed by Joe Carnahan (Smoking Aces), the new A-Team, due out June 11, follows the same quartet of crime-fighting former soldiers-only this time they are pursued by a military office (Jessica Biel) who’s got a history with Cooper’s Faceman.
“This is more edgy and reality-based than the TV show,” says Neeson, who breezed through stunt scenes but struggled with the ones involving his character Hannibal’s trademark stogie. “It’s delicate for me, because; as an ex-smoker I feel the temptation.” Cooper, on the other hand, has been feeling no pain: “It’s a childhood dream to be in a movie where I get to run a gun. The fact that I even know you say ‘run a gun’ is very exciting.”
