I’ve never watched a single episode. I realize people are fascinated with the show but for the life of me I can’t understand why. It’s not like its a new idea, hell the show was around in the 80’s and it sucked back then too. Now, the show is apparently raking in $900M a year and I guess the producers seem to think that Simon Cowell is worth $144M of that. If he turns it down, he’s the biggest bonehead ever. The job is easy as hell… ANYONE could do it. Just look at Paula Abdul… if she can do it, even a homeless dude who couldn’t speak english could probably gyrate his hands and mumble something profound.
EARLY salary figures from Simon Cowell’s American Idol contract negotiations are leaking out and they’re eye-popping.
Cowell, who reportedly made $36 million last year for judging the hit competition show, has been offered three or four times that amount — between $100 million and $144 million per year — by co-producers Fox and 19 Entertainment to stick with “Idol” when his contract expires next May, according to The Guardian, a London newpaper.
