Shia “The Beef” LaBeouf was arrested this morning on suspicion of DUI. He was involved in a crash early Sunday morning which left him hospitalized.

TMZ.com reports that LaBeouf’s car rolled over after he made an illegal left turn and was struck by an oncoming vehicle. Shia will need surgery on this left hand while the passenger in his car and the other driver both walked away from the scene with only minor injuries.

As for the DUI charges, Sgt. S. Wolf of L.A. county tells Us Magazine that  Shia “showed outward signs of intoxication.” Since the injuries were only minor, he will be charged with misdemeanor DUI.  LeBeouf’s attorney released a statement to the media that said “Shia is currently recovering from extensive hand surgery with plans to return to work on the set of Transformers 2”

Shia recently told David Letterman that “Drinking and driving is one thing, but drinking and shopping … it’s just as bad.” Because nothing is funnier than cracking jokes about DUI’s and making light of their impact on people’s lives.
