Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves

Matthew McConaughey is officially a father.  His girlfriend of two years, Camila Alves, gave birth to their son on Monday night.  The baby was born at 6:22 p.m. in Los Angeles, weighing in at 7 lb., 4 oz.  This is the first child for both parents.

In January, Matthew made an announcement on his website stating that he and his girlfriend “made a baby together” and they were very happy about the news.  Although all future grandparents (at the time) were excited to hear the news, Matthew’s mom contributed her opinion to an article in Cosmopolitan magazine.  She was supporting the fact that the couple’s sequence, as well as other Hollywood couples, are in a different priority sequence.  First come love, then comes baby, then marriage is discussed. 

What matters is the couple is happy and the baby is healthy.
