New reports have surfaced announcing Matt Grant’s departure from his fiancée Shayne Lamas’s condo in Century City, California. Yet, the English reality star maintains that their still together and still engaged.

The couple moved in together when the last season of The Bachelor came to an end and Matt proposed to Shayne. But since then, the pair realized they both need space to grow.

“I had to get my own life out here (in L.A.),” explains Matt. “Get my career and friends and have my own circle. That’s important in a relationship. That you are not entirely on top of someone.”

The English Bachelor went on saying, “Early on in the relationship, people need a little space. It’s almost to keep the spark — the romance — that exists in the first year of a relationship. Living together after knowing one another after four months is probably a little bit quick. Certainly for our generation.”

Matt does admit there have been times when things have been difficult with Shayne, but he insists it’s because of “external forces.” He confirms their still engaged and that he made the right decision proposing to Shayne.

When asked if their actually ‘in love,’ Matt replied “Definitely. I wouldn’t be engaged if I wasn’t.”
