Yves Saint-Laurent Looses Battle With Brain Cancer

Regrettably, Yves Saint-Laurent passed away on Sunday June 1st at home, in France due to brain cancer. A fashion pioneer and icon, he began working for Christian Dior at the age of 17, and founded the YSL label at 26. In the course of his career, YSL was responsible for groundbreaking moments in fashion. He coined the idea of mainstreaming and democratizing fashion, was responsible for some of the most famous looks of all time, and was the fist designer to use black models in his runway shows. He even served in the French army during the Algerian War of Independence. He retired from the industry in 2002, but his legacy will live on.
