Prince William to marry Kate Middleton next year
Prince William will marry Kate Middleton next year, according to a new report.
The heir to the British throne will formally propose to his long-term girlfriend over Christmas, with a St Paul’s Cathedral or Westminster Abbey marriage ceremony lined up for next summer.
A ‘highly-placed royal source‘ tells the press, “A number of bridges have to be crossed before any announcement. A Christmas engagement will allow William time to complete stints in all the armed services. It will also allow Kate time to be to be gradually introduced to the Royal court and be groomed in such matters as protocol and service.”
Veteran royal correspondent James Whitaker told British newspaper The Times it was a significant “step forward” for her. “She has spent the last four years waiting to marry William,” he said.”She is quite bright. Some people think it a pity, but I think being the wife of a man who will be king is far more demanding than any other graduate career.”
The couple are currently enjoying a skiing holiday together in the Swiss Alps.
