Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith recruited by the Church of Scientology

Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith are set to become the latest high-profile recruits into the controversial Church of Scientology, it has been claimed.

A new report in Radar Magazine, titled, “Scientology Under Siege” — the publication’s April cover story — says: “The Church has also set its sights on African Americans, opening up a center in Harlem in 2003 and making a strong play for Hollywood supercouple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett.”

Despite Will’s rep vehemently denying reports the star is set to join the cult, sources close to the actor say he definitely is becoming a member of the religion. “He’s been getting more and more involved [in Scientology],” the source tells MSNBC.com’s The Scoop. “And it isn’t just him, it’s definitely Jada, too. It’s not so much that anyone is upset that Will is becoming a Scientologist,” the source explained after seeing a copy of the nine-page Radar piece. “It’s that as he becomes more involved, you’d think he’d sort of help fly the flag with Tom [Cruise], who seems to only get a bad rap for it, while Will does this and comes through just fine.”
