The gangster chic digs were reportedly designed last year, when MJ was in talks to perform a residency in Las Vegas. Now he plans to rock them during a Thriller 25 television special. Van Pier (whose other superstar musical clients have included Mick Jagger, David Bowie and Beyoncé) says he created the new look for Michael last year, when the singer was hoping to mount a long-term, Celine Dion-like spectacle in Las Vegas. Van Pier’s solar-powered costumes, which run more than $10,000 a pop, are made from a space-age fabric called prostein protein that changes color in reaction to stage lights. Our thoughts?

Andre Van Pier died in August of 2008 in a NYC hosipital, from liver failure due to Hepatitis C. he was alone and broke at the time of his death, buried in a unmarked state grave. He will be remember and loved as he was a perfectionist and a clever American icon of the 1980s the decade he ruled the fashion industery from NYC, the time and place he most adored RIP my dear friend.
