Roy Scheider dead at 75

Roy ScheiderTwo-time Oscar nominee Roy Scheider died Sunday at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was 75. The hospital did not release a cause of death. The AP reports he died of complications from a staph infection. Scheider had been treated for multiple myeloma at the hospital’s Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy for the past two years. Scheider is best known for his roles as a police chief in the blockbuster movie Jaws and captain Nathan Bridger of the eponymous high-tech submarine SeaQuest DSV.
