An internal investigation carried out by the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department has found that three employees gave preferential treatment to Hollywood star Mel Gibson during his DUI arrest last July. The Office of Independent Review has revealed that two sergeants and a jailer did not follow proper procedures when the actor was arrested. It has also been learnt that the three employees tried to withhold details of the arrest report, which contained anti-Semitic statements by Gibson. While one of them was awarded a two-day suspension, the other two received written reprimands. Moreover, the report reveals that Gibson was not palm printed, as in customary, upon his release from custody. It also states that a deputy on duty drove Gibson directly from the jail to the impound lot to retrieve his car, without first receiving approval from a supervisor. The four-page report, however, suggested that there did not occur any violation of rules in hotel heiress Paris Hilton’s arrest for driving on a suspended license while on probation.
