Actress Kim Catrall only agreed to reprise her role as in the upcoming Sex and the City: The Movie because of the money. Kim, 51, says when the series ended in 2004, she was happy to move on, but her bank account was the one who missed the role. She told Reveal magazine: “It will be nice to step into Samantha’s shoes again, but I’m only doing it for the money. Samantha is very dear to me and I have such a wonderful time playing her, but I can say for experience than wanting financial security. We did it, we did it well. But it was always about the money.” The Liverpool-born actress added that she returned to her role as sex starved NY publicist Samantha Jones just so she can buy real estate in London. Cattrall famously negotiated hard over payment for the film, and reportedly had a bust up over Sarah Jessica Parker’s $3 million salary, which is twice that of her co-stars. The blonde, 51, also revealed she is happy to see the character age. “I really wanted Samantha to turn 50 in the film and she does, so I’m grateful for that. I’m glad she isn’t hiding her age. After 50, you can still be a woman - you can go shopping, have friends and do lunch. At 50 - you can love and be loved.” The Sex and the City film is currently being filmed in New York City and is expected to hit cinema screens in May 2008.
