Museum of Moving Image honors Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise and Katie HolmesFor its 23rd annual black-tie event, the Museum of the Moving Image honored Tom Cruise with a tribute event in New York, at Manhattan’s tony eatery Cipriani. Cruise is being recognized for his 27-year film career as well as new role with United Artists. “Tom Cruise is one of the premier American actors of his generation,” MOMI director Rochelle Slovin said. “Working with the great directors of our time — (including) Francis Ford Coppola, Stanley Kubrick, Sydney Pollack, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg and now Robert Redford — Cruise has given us indelible characters and performances.” Past recipients of the honor include Robert De Niro, Julia Roberts, Sidney Lumet, Richard Gere, Al Pacino, Sidney Poitier, and James Stewart.
